Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that an election-time government will be formed as per constitution help the Election Commission to oversee the next parliamentary election.
She hoped all registered political parties will participate in the election to maintain the flow of democracy in Bangladesh.
Prime Minister Hasina was speaking at an address to the nation this evening on completion of the fourth year in office of the second consecutive term of her government.
The prime minister’s address began around 7:30pm from her official residence Gono Bhaban in Dhaka, and lasted for 26 minutes.
It was broadcasted simultaneously by Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar as well as on different private TV channels and radio stations, he added.
On this day in 2014, the Awami League that led the nation’s War of Independence in 1971 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, formed the government for the second consecutive term after a landslide victory in the 10th Jatiya Sangsad elections.
BNP, the then main opposition and other political parties boycotted the election demanding a restoration of the caretaker government to oversee the polls.
