Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: Leaders and activists of the ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance will remain on the streets from September 18 to foil conspiracies ahead of the upcoming general election to be held at the end of December.

Mohammad Nasim, spokesperson of the 14-party alliance, made the announcement after a meeting of the alliance leaders held at the newly constructed building beside Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office in Dhaka this noon.

“The 14-party alliance will hold rallies in the divisional cities in phases from September 18, which will continue till the declaration of election schedule…We will work together for ensuring the victory of democracy,” said Nasim, also a presidium member of ruling Awami League.

Referring to the opposition parties’ recent attempt to forge a national unity, Nasim said, “We know the quarter very well. They are engaged in hatching a conspiracy afresh. I believe that the people are united against them and will remain alert against the vested quarter.”

The group wants to create anarchy across the country as they did during the January 5, 2014 election, Nasim alleged.

“We, the 14-party alliance leaders, will remain alert. I hope that the people would do the same to make the next general election fruitful,” he said.

He said the government will not accept any illogical and unconstitutional demand of anyone as there is no scope of vote-rigging through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in this era of modern technology.

“We won’t accept any unconstitutional demands of anybody. The national election will be held in December in light of the constitution,” he said.

Regarding opposition’s demand for dialogue ahead of the election, Nasim said the 14-party alliance does not want any “meaningless dialogue”.

The countrymen will vote for Awami League again as the government has been working for development in all the sectors, he said, adding that BNP’s dream for going to power will be turned into a nightmare.

The main task of the 14-party alliance leaders is to ensure defeat of the killers of 1971 and 1975 in the next general election, he added.
