Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: Bangladesh government today reviewed its statistics on Fani’s devastation, raising the extent of damaged cropland to over 1.55 lakh acres.
Additionally, over 21,000 houses were damaged during the cyclone that “weakened” before entering Bangladesh through West Bengal in India.
National Disaster Response Coordination Centre says, among them, 1,830 acres of cropland and 2,363 houses were completely destroyed in the cyclone.
The damage calculation was a report from 26 south-western and western districts of Bangladesh the centre published this afternoon.
Official casualty toll in the storm stayed at five persons – through Bhola, Noakhali, Lakshmipur and Borguna – with over 830 people injured.
A total of 59 villages have been flooded with rifts appearing along nearly 22 kilometres of embankments along various rivers in the final review.
During the cyclone, a total of over 16 lakh people were sheltered in the cyclone shelters.
