Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: Ajinkya Rahane batted his way out of lackluster form and scored an elegant ton for Rajasthan Royals against Delhi Capital in yesterday’s Indian Premier League encounter at Jaipur.
After not making the cut into India’s World Cup squad announced a couple of days back, Rahane defied bad form and gave a befitting reply to his critics by showcasing that form might be temporary but class is permanent.
The technically correct batsman gave a glimpse of his exquisite shot-making while scoring an eye pleasing century, although in a losing cause. On his way to century against Delhi Capitals, Rahane broke many batting records.
Here are some of the records amassed by Rahane in his knock against Delhi Capitals
Rahane continued his love affair playing at Jaipur, going past the 1000-run landmark at Royal’s home turf at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. Rahane became the first batsman in the league history to achieve the feat at the venue.
With his 105-run knock, Rahane also registered the highest individual score for Rajasthan in the IPL. He is followed by Shane Watson, who scored an unbeaten 104 against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2015.
It is a known fact that Rahane has a liking for the Delhi bowling and the Mumbaikar has always scored heavily against them. Courtesy his ton against Delhi Capitals, Rahane became the second highest scorer against the franchise in the history of the league. With 782 runs against Delhi, Rahane is only second to RCB skipper Virat Kohli who has 802 against DC.
Rahane scripted another record as he became the third batsman to score a century against Delhi in the IPL. The other two are Chris Gayle and Murali Vijay.
