Two brothers developed love affair with the same girl. Because of this love, the younger brother slaughtered his elder brother in Harpur Baganpara area, on the outskirts of Rajshahi city, on Friday night.
Police recovered the body from the house on Saturday morning and arrested accused younger brother is Shimul Hossain, said Kashiadanga Police Station Officer-in-Charge SM Masud Parvez on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Shakib Hossain.
The OC said, “It was initially thought that Shimul might have killed his elder brother Shakib because of financial transactions. But he said differently after being caught. According to Shimul, his elder brother Shakib had immoral relations with more than one woman and was also drug addicted. When he forbade this, his elder brother rushed to attack him with a knife. As he tried to resist the blow, he struck back. Shakib was stabbed in the neck and died.”
When asked that did they use drugs together or not? OC Maud Parvez said, “I don’t know about this. A bottle of liquor was found in the house on the day the body was recovered.”
Meanwhile, the locals are saying different things about the real incident of the murder. According to multiple local sources, the two brothers had only one girlfriend. She is their neighbour. The young woman got married elsewhere three months ago. As a result, younger brother Shimul was angry with his elder brother Shakib for not being able to marry the girl.
The OC said, “A murder case had been filed against Shimul after his arrest. He confessed to the police about killing his elder brother. Details of this murder could be known after investigation.”❐
