A week has passed since the deadly mosque blast in Narayangnj, but police and local administration are yet to make any headway in the investigation while no arrest has been made in the case lodged over the blast.
As of Friday, the five victims undergoing treatment in intensive care unit of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery were still not out of danger, making the family members wait in anxiety.
On Thursday, the district administration-formed probe committee was allowed an extension for seven days to submit their reports, while criminal investigation department was given the responsibility of investigating the case.
Families of the victims and locals expressed their frustrations over the delay in investigation and legal action.
Total 37 victims were brought into Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery after the blast that had ripped through Baitus Salat Jame Masjid of Paschim Talla under Fatullah in Narayanganj on the night of September 4.
Of them, 31 have succumbed to their burn injuries, one was released and the rest of the five are still on oxygen support in the ICU of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery fighting for their lives.
National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery’s physician Lubna Ferdous said, ‘The five patients suffered inhalation injuries and we cannot consider them to be out of danger. Also, there is this chance that their physical condition would begin to deteriorate suddenly.’❐
