Covid vaccination centres in Mumbai will remain shut on August 19 and 20. The inoculation drive will resume on Saturday i.e., August 21.
Due to a paucity of vaccines, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Wednesday that vaccination will be postponed on Thursday (August 19) and Friday (August 20) at government and municipal centres in Mumbai.
Urging citizens to cooperate with the administration, BMC said that vaccination will resume on Saturday as vaccine stocks will arrive on Thursday night and will be distributed at centres on Friday.
BMC further stated that the citizens of Mumbai are updated on the extent to which vaccine stocks will be procured, and appropriate decisions are taken.
This is the third time this month that vaccination is being stopped due to a shortage in vaccine supply. BMC had earlier announced a suspension in vaccination on August 12 and 13. Amid the shortage of vaccines, only 24 out of over 300 civic and government-run centres were functional on August 11.
