Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the government will strictly control plying of three-wheelers and slow-moving vehicles on the national highways across the country to avoid road accident.
Quader, also general secretary of the ruling Awami League, came up with the decision during a meeting of Road Transport Advisory Council (RTAC) held at the Secretariat this afternoon.
The RTAC, a forum comprising government officials, representatives of transport owners, workers and experts for discussion and solving problems in the road transport sector, arranged its 42nd meeting today, chaired by the council’s chairman Obaidul Quader.
The minister said the government’s decision to remove illegal bumpers and angles would continue.
The council will send a letter to the Ministry of Commerce soon urging it to halt the import of three-wheelers and slow-moving vehicles, he added.
State Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Mashiur Rahman Ranga, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary, and RTAC representatives were present at the meeting.
